Na Bonsai is a multi-disciplinary artist, producer, and liberation technologist from Detroit, MI. She imbibes her sonic practice with cultural awareness and a deep commitment to connection. With jazz as an early influence, her musical ancestry is filled with powerful feminine energy across generations, counting artists from Alice Coltrane to Grace Jones to Georgia Anne Muldrow as vital parts of her musical lineage. Gaining momentum from leading the indie-soul band Honey Monsoon, Na Bonsai utilizes composition, beat-making, printmaking, and a host of other mediums as an open invitation to her spiritual practice.

Since 2016, Ana has focused on experimenting with a variety of technologies and instruments, always accompanied by her distinctive voice and often with a creative cast of Detroit musicians including horn and string sections, and vibrant vocal accompaniment. Understanding sound as an extension of herself, she transmutes the intimacy, vulnerability, and empowerment of her day-to-day life into her projects.

Na recently released an EP, Alkhemy, which is a conceptual future-soul composition intended to illuminate our collective ability to transform our emotions and liberate ourselves. The first song, Black As Lead, is about fearlessly shedding our past selves in order to make room for new energy. Followed by Closer To The Sun, a song about completing cycles by returning to our original selves and oneness. Listen now here!
